Beverages, Spirits & Vinegar are Botswana’s leading food imports

In March 2021, Botswana’s total imports were valued at over P8 billion (P 8, 965, 098, 062). In this amount, food imports contributed over P881 million (P881,176,709.😎, representing 9.8 percent.

Beverages, Spirits and Vinegar accounted for 21.0 percent of food imports, followed by Sugars and sugar confectionery and Preparations of cereals with 9.5 percent and 8.6 percent.

The most imported types of Beverages, spirits and vinegar during this month were “Beer made from Malt”, at 31.3 percent, followed by “Beverages, fermented; (e.g. cider, Perry, mead, sake)”at 30.1 percent.

Sugars; cane sugar, raw, in solid form, not containing added flavouring or colouring matter contributed 43.8 percent while Sugar confectionery; (excluding chewing gum, including white chocolate), not containing cocoa presented 17.6 percent to the Sugars & Sugar Confectionary chapter.
