Debswana, the world ‘s leading rough diamonds producer and Botswana’ s largest private sector employer has made new shifts in its executive management, the partly government owned diamond giant announced this week.
Orapa Letlhakane & Damatsha Mines have a new General Manager, Mr Mogakolodi Maoketsa has been appointed to the post effective 1st of August 2021.OLDM encompasses Orapa Mine-one of the world’s largest diamond mines by area, Letlhakane mine-currently a tailings treatment operation and the Damatsha Mine currently under care & maintenance.
Maoketsa joins the Debswana executive Committee from Jwaneng Mine where he has been Assistant General Manager, he holds a BSC Mining Engineering degree from University of Witwatersrand South Africa and has over 20 years experience in Mining, 7 of which he spent at the now defunct BCL Mine.Bakani Mothabani who has been Orapa, Letlhakane & Damatsha Mines General Manager has been appointed on a lateral transfer to Debswana Head Office as Head of Technical Services.
BK as popularly known in Otown has worked for Debswana for over 20 years, he previously held various executive positions both in Jwaneng and Orapa.He led Letlhakane Mine ‘s transition from Open cast mining to Tailings treatment operation and has been celebrated for implementation of Anglo American Operating model through setting up of break through performance initiatives.
