During the current projected lifespan of Khoemacau Copper Mine, a total of P119 billion will be injected into Botswana ‘s gross domestic product (GDP) by the operation which is mining copper and silver in the North East District of the country.
Khoemacau has cultivated Kalahari Copper Belt commercial glory following failed attempts by Discovery Metals which liquidated in 2013.
Khoemacau Copper Mining, backed by foreign investors acquired Discovery Metals ‘s Boseto assets and further developed Zone 5 into a world class underground mine.
President Masisi will officially open Khoemacau commercial operations tomorrow ( 30 June 2021). After years of construction and developing the mine and upgrading Boseto processing facilities Khoemacau Copper mine currently has staff compliment of 2800, 96 % of are Batswana.
The mine has capacity to produce over 165 000 tonnes high grade copper & silver concentrate contain 65 tonnes payable of copper, and 2 million ounces of silver
